KPA_FX_EDITOR_1_11 doesn't get SysEx Msg from KPA

    by ajul » Mon Apr 02, 2018 10:59 am

I try to use the TinyBox4Kemper as a USB MIDI Interface with the KPA_FX_EDITOR_1_11.

    https://www.kemper-amps.com/forum/index ... post423418

Ctrlr show me 3 TINY BOX Interfaces. When I connect to KPA the editor sends SysExMsgs requesting the KPA status:

When I configure Interface #1 there is no response from KPA. On using #2 or #3 the response is:

    [12:20:20:000276]: Time(73438.983624) [System exclusive] Ch:[--] No:[----] Val:[----] RAW:[f0 7e 7e 60 20 41 4a 20 44 6c 78 2d 52 65 76 20 4d 69 78 65 64 20 20 20 20 f7]

Is this answer from KPA or from TinyBox4Kemper?

When I use another MIDI-Interface (UNO) the response from KPA is:

    [12:29:01:000790]: Time(73960.426071) [System exclusive] Ch:[--] No:[----] Val:[----] RAW:[f0 00 20 33 00 00 02 00 32 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 01 7f 7f 40 00 40 00 60 00 32 7a 60 20 53 7c 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 38 68 40 00 2f 15 00 00 00 40 40 00 00 00 00 00 7f 7f 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 40 00 7f 7f 40 00 40 00 40 00 40 00 40 00 40 00 40 00 40 00 40 00 22 2f 40 00 56 1d 40 00 3a 2e 40 00 40 00 4a 1c 40 00 24 32 40 00 40 00 3f 7f 00 40 00 40 3f 7f 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 40 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 7f 7f 20 00 00 01 20 00 18 00 60 00 40 00 20 00 00 04 00 03 00 02 00 01 00 01 7f 7f 7f 7f 7f 7f 7f 7f 7f 7f 00 00 7f 7f 00 00 00 4c 00 53 00 44 00 49 40 00 40 00 00 00 40 00 00 01 10 00 7f 7f 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 f7]

Can you please provide a way for making TinyBox4Kemper a transparent MIDI-Interface?

    Ctrlr 5.3.198
    KPA OS 5.5.0.13341

There is already a lot of 2-way communication and message forwarding going on inside the TinyBox4Kemper, it wouldn't be feasible to add on top of that 2-way communication between an editor and the Kemper, without disturbing what else is going on internally. The box constantly listens to and reacts on the info which the Kemper is sending, and also forwards it to the FCB1010 - I believe it would get confused when also receiving info which is meant for the editor. USB Port 3 is dedicated for sending and receiving setups and firmware upgrades, USB Port 2 is dedicated for sending and receiving status info between TinyBox and TB4KServer, USB Port 1 is "transparent" in 1 direction only : incoming MIDI on that port is forwarded to the Kemper. However MIDI coming in from Kemper is internally processed and forwarded to the FCB1010, but not to USB Port 1.

Sorry - forgot to mention the main function for USB-MIDI Port 1 of the TinyBox4Kemper: any preset content programmed in the TinyBox, to be sent when a rig or effect is triggered, is sent not only to MIDI OUT, but also to this USB-MIDI Port 1. This allows to trigger presets or effects in MIDI controlled PC software, along with controlling external MIDI controlled hardware.
